Beschreibungen

This book demystifies that art and science of seismic interpretation for those with and without formal geophysical training. From geologists to managers and investors, The Art and Science of Seismic Interpretation is a guide to what seismic data is, how it is interpreted, and what it can deliver.

Chapter1: Seismic Geophysics.- Chapter2: Historical Overview of Petroleum and Seismology.- Chapter3: Seismic interpretation in Petroleum Exploration.- Chapter4: Application to Petroleum Development.- Chapter5: Summary.

Professor Christopher L. Liner is the Maurice F. Storm Endowed Chair of Petroleum Geology and Department Chair of Geosciences at the University of Arkansas, former President of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, author of the book “Elements of 3D Seismology, Second Edition,” and has held positions at Conoco, The University of Tulsa, Saudi Aramco and the University of Houston. He specializes in hydrocarbon exploration, reservoir characterization, advanced seismic interpretation methods, seismic data analysis and processing, and near surface geophysics.

Thomas A. (Mac) McGilvery has 30 years industry experience with significant work in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, North Slope Alaska, and Ouachita-Arkoma region mid-continent U.S.A. He spent four years on a corporate exploration review team evaluating all pre-drill exploration prospects in a worldwide portfolio. Dr. McGilvery has a PhD in sequence stratigraphy and clastic depositional systems and has taught numerous in-house and industry short courses. Currently he is an Adjunct Professor in the Geoscience Department at the University of Arkansas specializing in seismic/sequence stratigraphy, clastic depositional systems, and petroleum geology.
